Goal

To provide a low-friction alternative to takeout by streamlining the healthy meal-prep decision process.

Problem

People often choose unhealthy takeout because of "Decision Fatigue." Most meal apps are too focused on calorie tracking rather than quickly helping a user decide what to eat.

Accessibility considerations

Process

  • Research: Reviewed three competitor apps and surveyed peers. Created a persona: The Busy Professional.

  • Design Decisions: Used calming colors and simple navigation to reduce cognitive load. Prioritized habit tracking and gentle nudges.

  • Testing: Conducted informal usability tests with three users. Adjusted onboarding flow based on confusion around goal-setting.

Outcome

I designed a "Decision-First" interface that prioritizes quick-selection meal plans. By reducing the steps between opening the app and picking a recipe, the design makes healthy eating the path of least resistance.
